Best Book of 2009.

The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge. Day 4.

Books seem to find me. I rarely have to go in search of them. The best book that found me in 2009 was The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks.

I first heard about it from Dr. Christiane Northrup on one of our monthly Team Northrup calls.

She shared with us what is still one of my favorite quotes from the book. It’s what Hendricks calls Your Ultimate Success Mantra and it goes like this:

“I expand in abundance, success and love every day, as I inspire others to do the same.”

So good, right?

A key word in this is inspire. It doesn’t say as I help, motivate, or sacrifice for others but inspire others. The word expand is quite powerful too. If I am expanding in order to inspire how can I not be my best self? Brilliant.

Hendricks writes about many life-changing concepts like living in Einstein Time the Enlightened No and the Upper Limit Problem.

My favorite concept is the Zone of Genius. Most of us live in our zone of competence or even our zone of excellence. We are nice and comfy here and could hang out here forever.

The catch is, eventually we get antsy. We get restless. We feel dissatisfied even though everything seems to be going well. Why?

The soul yearns for e-x-p-a-n-s-i-o-n.

The solution? Discover and live in your Zone of Genius. Here you are doing something you love that is unique to you and you could do forever.  You are turned on, creating value and living in flow. Ahhhhh. That feels better.

What is your personal Zone of Genius?  I’d love to know.
